Highly Selective National Scholarships

Here are ten high selective scholarships for which students may compete on  national level. Students and their families should read the scholarship’s website to confirm details.

 

Apple Scholars

  • $2,000 for 10 students
  • Awarded for innovative use of technology in school work
  • Deadline: May 30

 

Buick Achievers Scholarships

  • 100 renewable scholarship up to $25,000
  • 1,000 one-time $2,000 scholarships
  • Awarded for leadership in classroom and community
  • Deadline: Late February

 

Davidson Fellowships

  • $50,000 fellowships for 4 students
  • $25,000 fellowships for 7 students
  • $10,000 fellowships for 5 students
  • Awarded for projects related to:
  • Math, science, technology, music, literature, philosophy, or “outside of the box”
  • Deadline: March 31

 

Gates Millennium Scholarships

  • Average scholarship $11,593
  • Awarded for math, science, engineering, education and library science
  • Minority and Pell Grant qualified students are eligible
  • Deadline: February 1

 

Intel Science Talent Search

  • $100,000 for first place finalist
  • $75,000 for second place finalist
  • $50,000 for third place finalist
  • $25,000 for fourth through sixth place finalists
  • $5,000 other 30 finalists
  • $20,000 for seventh through tenth place finalists
  • $1,000 for other 30 semi-finalists
  • Awarded for promise in science and research

 

Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

  • $50,000 for top three finalists
  • Awarded for Intel International Science & Engineering Fair project

 

NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program

  • Up to $20,000 for four years for 15 disadvantaged students
  • Awarded students in biomedical, behavioral and social sciences
  • Students must work 1 year at NIH for each year of award

 

National Merit Scholarship Corporation

  • National Merit Scholarships: 8,000 from National Merit Scholarship Corporation
  • National Merit Special Scholarships: 1,600 from participating corporations
  • National Achievement Scholarships: 800 Africa Americans ($700 to $2,500) 

 

Siemens Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science and Technology

  • $100,000 for top research report
  • $50,000 to $10,000 for second through sixth place research reports

 

Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement

  • $5,000 for 1 male and 1 female student
  • $3,000 for 2 male and 2 female students in each of 6 regions
  • Awarded to students with 5’s in 8 math and science AP exams & application
